“Range Decreases in Winter” – Myth or Fact?

Indeed, the range of your electric car decreases in cold temperatures. We have therefore prepared 5 tips to help you get through the winter safely and save energy.

1 Preheat

Preheat your car while charging, ideally about 15-30 minutes before departure. Maintaining warmth during the drive requires less energy than heating a cold car, and you get into a pleasantly warm car without additional battery consumption.

2 Winter Sports

Around the Swiss ski areas, you will find more and more charging stations. Use the time to recharge your energy and drive back to the valley with a charged battery. Even in winter, an electric car saves CO₂ compared to a combustion engine. This helps preserve glaciers and the unique mountain world in winter for future generations. 3 Charging Stations Near You

With Swisscharge, you have access to the largest public charging network in Switzerland. With the Swisscharge app, you can find charging stations near you at any time.

4 Driving Behavior

By driving with foresight and accelerating gently, you can save not only energy but also CO₂ emissions with your electric car. Additionally, before a long downhill drive, you can avoid fully charging your car and instead benefit from recuperation (recovery of braking energy).

5 Check Tire Pressure

In cold temperatures, the air pressure in the tires can decrease, which increases energy consumption. Therefore, regularly check tire pressure and maximize your range.

With these tips, you are ready for the cold months – we wish you a lot of driving pleasure!
