Initial Situation

By the end of 2025,   Interroll Holding AG was looking for an easy-to-implement EV charging solution for its site in Sant’Antonino, Ticino. Building on the long-standing collaboration between Interroll and  MAHLE chargeBIG in Germany, the company chose to deploy MAHLE chargeBIG’s charging infrastructure in Switzerland as well.

As part of the MAHLE Group, MAHLE chargeBIG provides a preconfigured and modular EV charging infrastructure that can be expanded as demand grows. This scalable approach enables companies to add workplace charging points efficiently, without extensive construction work or complex installations, while remaining prepared for future charging needs.

« At chargeBIG, we think of charging infrastructure as a modular system like Lego: you start with the right base and expand as needed. Swisscharge as the billing partner enables a flexible and scalable end-to-end solution.

Goals

At the centre of the project: enabling employees to charge their private electric vehicles directly at the workplace. Swisscharge was selected for billing and system integration thanks to its proven, easy-to-integrate solution for the Swiss market. Key advantages included multilingual user support (including Italian), local payment options such as TWINT, and strong collaboration with regional installation partners. Swisscharge also supported the needs assessment and evaluation of available funding opportunities.

Result

The result is a compatible and scalable e-mobility solution that is now actively used by around 20 employees and, due to strong demand, was already expanded in June 2026. The combination of MAHLE chargeBIG hardware and Swisscharge software and services ensures simple user processes and reliable everyday operation.

Using a QR code on the permanently installed charging cable, employees can easily pay for their charging sessions. Charging costs can be reimbursed by Interroll, while company vehicles are automatically recognised and charged at no cost.

Thanks to the technical integration with Swisscharge, charging points, users, and billing can be managed centrally. The partnership delivers a modular «Lego-style» solution with flexible expansion – a strong reference for companies planning professional workplace charging infrastructure for employees or fleets.
